ABOUT
Hales Trail Community Garden is a community of gardeners, working together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and friendliness so that each gardener can be successful year after year. The garden is located at 245 Hales Trails, owned by the City of Port Washington and managed by the Parks & Recreation Department.   The seasonal rental fee of $40 Residents/$50 Non-Residents includes (1) 15'x15'(approx size)plot, use of water, hoses, and hand tools.

2024 Garden Rules


2024 Registration - REGISTRATION FULL, no plots available

  • Online or In-Person registration only.
  • Garderners are limited to 2 plots per registered gardener.
  • Registration with the Community Garden implies that the gardener has read and agrees to all rules and policies included in the 2024 Garden Rules.

Feb 19 thru Feb 29 - PRIORITY REGISTRATION  (returning 2023 gardeners only)

  • All returning gardeners are eligible to reclaim their plot(s) during this time. 
  • Please note that several plots have been renumbered for improved clarity. 

  • Any plot not reclaimed by 4:30pm on 2/29/24 will be deemed “unclaimed” and the plot will be made available:
    (1)to returning/registered gardeners starting 7am 3/4/24
    (2)to general public during GENERAL registration which opens at 7am on 3/11/24.
  • Starting 3/4/24, and not before, returning gardeners are permitted to transfer to and/or add another plot.  Use 2024 Garden Map to select from open/unclaimed plots and contact the Rec Dept with your request to receive a plot transfer confirmation. Plot transfer requests are accepted via email, phone, or in-person. Requests are processed first come first served. 


March 11 - GENERAL REGISTRATION (open to all) - REGISTRATION FULL, no plots available

  • General Registration opens Monday March 11 at 7am 
  • Open and Unclaimed plots will be made available to general public

Step 1. Plot-Selection:  Use the 2024 Garden Map to view any open/unclaimed plots.

Step 2. Plot-Selection-Confirmation:  Contact the Rec Dept to confirm the availablity and "reserve" the plot you want.  Plot-Selections are processed first-come/first serve and can be made email, phone or in-person. Only after you have confirmed your plot selection with the Rec Dept will you be allowed to Register. 

Step 3. GENERAL Registration - After receiveing Plot-Selection-Confirmation from the Rec Dept, you have 1 business day to complete GENERAL registration after which time the plot will be re-opened and made available to other gardeners. Online or in-person registration only.
