Why Have A Strategic Plan?

In 2022, the City developed a consistent strategic vision to be understood by citizens, businesses, the Common Council, and staff. To align all these important groups, a three-to-five-year strategic plan was approved by the Common Council on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. The concept is to have a strategy document prioritizing and guiding policymaking, and, by extension, encouraging proactive planning at a staff-level to achieve defined outcomes. To accomplish this task, a consultant was engaged to facilitate a process to identify strategic goals and produce a document for the City to incorporate into processes, decision making and activities. Over next few years, the City is going to have some significant opportunities and challenges. That is why it is a great time to define expectations and priorities as the moves forward!
