Mission Statement
The Forestry Division is responsible for the maintenance of over 10,000 street trees in addition to over 4,000 trees in the City’s Parks and the City’s 500 tree nursery. This division maintains tree species diversity and utilizes best management practices for planting, pruning, treatment, diagnosis of disease and hazard trees, and tree and stump removal. It is also responsible for maintaining the City’s landscaped boulevards, and places seasonal and holiday lights on City trees. The Forestry Division is led by the Superintendent of Parks and Forestry.
Programs/Service Lines
- Maintenance of all forestry within the City limits.
- Maintenance of all City parks and natural areas.
- Maintenance of all the City owned flower beds and planters.
- Maintenance of all turf areas within City parks.
- Maintenance of beach areas.
- Responsible for trash cleanup throughout City parks.
- Responsible for setup on park rentals, beer gardens and festivals.
Strategic Plan - Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
- Remove 150 trees.
- Plant 300 trees.
- Inject 350 trees.
- Maintain over 100 planting beds and planters.
- Mow turf in 30 different parks.
- Maintain four bathroom stations and manage over 100 trash/recycling receptacles daily.
