Cats, dogs, and pot bellied pigs must be licensed in the City of Port Washington every calendar year. Your license and tag may be purchased in the Finance Office at City Hall any time from January 1st through March 31st to avoid late fees. New pets or persons/pets moving to the City of Port Washington after March 31st must be licensed as soon as possible to avoid the late penalty. A $5.00 penalty is applied to license fees after March 31st.
- A current rabies certificate is required for each pet. This paperwork is issued by the vaccinating veterinarian and will include the rabies tag number, the date of vaccination, and the date the next rabies shot will be due.
- Cost is $6.00 for spayed/neutered animals; $11.00 if the pet is non-spayed/non-neutered.
- City ordinance Ch.141-19(H.) limits pet ownership to two dogs and two cats per address.
