Mission Statement
The Building Inspection Department issues all permits required under the provisions of the electrical, plumbing and building codes of the City. Permitted work is inspected to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local codes, ordinances, and requirements. This department is supervised by the Director of Inspection and Zoning Code Enforcement Officer who shall supervise the electrical, plumbing and building inspectors, under the direction of the City Administrator.
Programs/Service Lines
- Review plans and issue all construction related permits.
- Collect permit fees.
- Inspect and enforce local, state, and national construction codes.
- Inspect and enforce local property maintenance codes.
- Investigate and respond to resident’s complaints.
- Schedule and conduct annual liquor license inspections.
- Provide information to residents, contractors, and designers.
- Maintain records related to building construction.

- Total number of permits issued indicates the amount of construction and growth occurring in the city.
- Total Permit Revenue, the total dollar amount the city brings in from building permits, violations, and lien settlement requests.
