Monday - Thursday:
8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Friday:
8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Programming hours are the same as office hours with the addition of regular scheduled night classes, special events, and Saturday morning Green Felt practice. Masks are recommended for unvaccinated individuals. Registration for programming is required and sanitizing protocols are in place for group members.

Mission Statement

The Commission shall investigate the needs of all programs for senior citizens, coordinate programs of special concern to them and prepare an annual report with recommendation for action to improve the quality of life for senior citizens.

Programs/Service Lines

Utilizing volunteers for leadership of leagues, regular activities, and support for secretarial office tasks.
Providing connections to the local and greater Community with trips, tours, service, and cooperative programs.
Facilitating vital social connections through regular activities cards, table games, leagues, creative arts, and special social events.
Providing a sense of place to maintain and improve physical and emotional wellbeing.

Achievements

In observance of Older Americans Month Community the partner selected, for a membership perk, was Java Dock.
Existing programs and services were maintained with only one staff member in place from July 2022 to April 2023. During this timeframe, facilitation of two events during the month of March was required.
Four new programs were added, along with one “Pop Up” music event.
The 50th Anniversary year was celebrated during May 2023. In celebration, the Friends of Port Senior Center provided a Marcus gift card to members. This gift was continued from the 2022 celebration.
Increase marketing program utilizing an ad in the Ozaukee Press "Wellness Magazine" for six issues.
A draft membership manual is currently 75 percent complete. Contained within the draft are the newly created Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Updated and reprinted the Senior Center’s General Information brochure.
Received a small grant from the Ozaukee County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Title III funds and the Cedarburg Junior Women’s Club for the Aging Mastery Program (AMP) held in 2023 in Cedarburg. The Port Washington Senior Center had 18 participants who completed all the certificate requirements.
The membership non-renewals in February 2023, totaled 195. By April 2023, the number of non-renewal memberships was reduced to 54.
The Friends of the Port Senior Center supported the Fish Days Committee as a “Perch” sponsor during the Veteran’s and Seniors Day events.

Goals

Provide quality adult and senior programs utilizing contract instructors and volunteers. Promote wellness through a variety of physical, social, and mentally stimulating activities.
Maintain programs and events that support active and healthy lifestyles as re-established and introduced in 2022.
Continue expansion of sponsorships and partnerships with community businesses, organizations, and groups for financial support with the users of programs and events to ensure tax revenues are not utilized for these purposes.
Continue the implementation of strategies for enhancing communications with stakeholders, members, and the community at large to provide vital social connections and referral services to the aging network.
Continue to review grant opportunities for the Aging Mastery Program and other programs.
